Cat Island is the last stronghold for Oceanic Whitetip Shark encounters on the planet. We have been extremely successful locating and interacting with this hard to find species.
It is truly a pelagic expedition with reliable encounters in the open blue and plenty of opportunity to see other species. We take every opportunity to swim with the oceanics, both free diving and SCUBA. These are advanced dives as we will be drifting in the blue with large predatory sharks, without the protection of a cage. Guests are able to spend hours in the water with the sharks on snorkel, as well as SCUBA since the dives are shallow. Even though we’ll typically be drifting over bottomless ocean, the sharks remain close to the surface.
The water around Cat Island offers some of the best conditions imaginable. Calm, crystal clear water with gentle current allow for countless photography opportunities.

Not far away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau, but far away from it all set amidst an atmosphere of tranquillity and style. Enjoy your open-air breakfast on the beachfront, explore the Bahamas the way they used to be. The resort is just a 20 minute ride to the boat and transfers are included in your dive package.
It is a sixteen-room resort, spectacularly located on 8 miles of pink sand Atlantic Ocean beach. Coral heads right off the beach, make bathing and snorkeling from the beach easy and convenient. The sixteen rooms are formed in a square around the garden and pool area. Most of the rooms have ocean view and are less than 150 feet away from the beach. All rooms have private bath, mosquito screens and small patio. The rooms are cooled by ocean breezes and ceiling fans or air conditioning providing sufficient cooling even in the summer months.
After diving, relax in a hammock on the beach and enjoy the breeze under swaying palm trees. Have your evening cocktail at the freshwater pool, and be prepared for a tasty surprise in the cozy dining-room after the sunset. Forget about the outside world!
The bar – based on an honor system – allows all guests to mix their own favorite cocktails and drinks. The terrace and bar are favorite meeting points for guests and friends.
For most people traveling to Cat Island, it is easiest to plan your trip through Nassau, Bahamas. There are flights available direct from the US but the schedules are unreliable and infrequent.
Sky Bahamas offers twice daily flights to and from New Bight Airport (TBI) on Cat Island. In order to make the morning flight, you must arrive the day before to Nassau and spend the night there. For this reason, guests usually arrive on the afternoon flight on the first day of the itinerary (Sunday). It departs Nassau at 3:45 but you first clear customs and check in by 2:45, 1 hour before departure. We will transport the group back to New Bight Airport at 8am on Saturday in order to check in for the 9:55 flight departing to Nassau. The roundtrip airfare is approximately $180 between Nassau (NAS) and Cat Island (TBI).
We strongly recommend dive accident insurance as well as separate dive trip/travel insurance. These policies can be purchased from DAN, DiveAssure, and a number or other agencies. There are no refunds for lost days of diving due to weather cancellations, natural disaster, trip delays, injury or equipment issues. You should check with individual policies to ensure that you are covered in the event of unforeseen issues.
NAS – Nassau International Airpot
TBI – New Bight Airport on Cat Island
**note – we do not pick up from Arthur’s Town Airport (ATC) on Cat Island. It is over 1 hour away from most accommodations and you would have to arrange your own transportation to/from there.
Sunday – Arrival Day: take Sky Bahamas 3:45pm flight from NAS to TBI, landing on Cat Island at 4:35pm
Saturday – Departure Day: take Sky Bahamas 9:55 flight from TBI to NAS, landing in Nassau at 11:05am
Several airlines have offered these flights in the past, but they are infrequent and the schedules change often. Most guests will connect to Cat Island from Nassau.
