Sharks! Creatures that have captivated our minds for generations. But why all the hype? What are sharks really all about? In this masterclass, you’ll dive in to all aspects of sharks with the focus on making you a better shark diver with a deep understanding of the apex predator. We’ll start off examining their place in the animal kingdom, and how evolution brought them to the top of the food chain. We’ll then explore the biology and ecology of sharks, how they interact with and impact the ocean as they move around their environment. We’ll get into some of the fascinating observations by shark behaviorist working with some of the same animals for over a decade and explore those insights into shark behavior. While stressing their critical role in the ocean ecosystem throughout the course, we’ll finish off with a discussion of the need for shark conservation and the current state of conservation science.
