As anticipated, the travel regulations have changed again and the below details are outdated. Please refer to the Bahamas Travel Website for the latest info. – updated January 7, 2022
The situation was looking so much better just a few short weeks ago. Now, the Omicron variant is wreaking havoc across the globe and travel regulations are changing once again. The news rules are different for vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors. The Bahamas Travel website is a great resource with up-to-date information.
At this time, the Bahamas Government will only be accepting vaccinations by AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria/Covishield), Janseen (Johnson & Johnson), Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Moderna (Spikevax), Sinopharm, Covaxin or Sinovac. Besides those, visitors who have received non-approved vaccines must follow the same protocols as unvaccinated travelers.
The Bahamas still requires all unvaccinated and vaccinated travelers to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa. This includes visitors, returning citizens and residents arriving via commercial flights, as well as by private planes, private boats, yachts or pleasure craft. You will upload your required documentation on their website. The approval decision can take several days, so make sure to have enough lead time.
